University of Sunderland is one of the polytechnics that were granted university status after the Further and Higher Education Act 1992. It’s located in the coastal city of Sunderland in the North of England and just 30 minutes from Newcastle. Currently it’s one of the most affordable university options, which also has less restrictive entry barriers. Pharmacy is one of the University’s strongest areas and its Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Nursing are all open to international students. Benefitting from Sunderland as a hotspot for car manufacturing, the University has developed strong industry links with the sector and has collaborated with Nissan on Degree Apprenticeships and a number of integrated-learning short-course training courses.
