International Study Centre (ISC)
Normally based inside historical boarding schools, international study centres (ISC) are established to cater for the education needs of international students. Unlike main schools, courses in ISC focus more on improving students’ English ability with smaller class-size and specialised teachers. An average class in ISC consists of 4 to 8 students, compared to 15 students in main schools. Teachers in ISC are speacialist of teaching English as a foreign language. These teachers are well-trained to teach students whose mother tongue is not English. Courses normally finish within a year, after which students almost always show significant improvement on their English ability.
Some ISC provide one-year GCSE programme which bridges the education systems for F.4 students in Hong Kong.
