Boarding School

When people say UK boarding schools, they are usually referring to independent schools in the UK that provide boarding services. There are around 438 of such schools in the UK education system. Boarding Schools have a long and well established history. Most of them have religious background and are renowned by its strict discipline and remarkable academic results. Hundreds and thousands of students from all around the world come to study in these schools. According to a census conducted by the Independent School Council (ISC) of the 2024/25 academic, there are about 11,500 new international students every year, in which 11% are from Hong Kong and 24% are from mainland China.
All programmes start in September. Only a few of them accept January and April intakes. There are three terms in a year, which is different with the two-term system in Hong Kong.
