University of Northampton is a university in the Midland town of Northampton, which is roughly an hour away from London and Birmingham by train. The Allied Health department of the University was founded back in 1941 by St Andrew’s Hospital, at the time the third school of occupational therapy in the UK. Today medical related programmes remain the largest subject cluster in University of Northampton, with programmes in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Podiatry, Counselling, etc. Not only that, the BSc (Hons) Podiatry programme in University of Northampton is also the designated Podiatry programme for Hong Kong Hospital Authority’s Training Sponsorship Scheme. The University runs its own Podiatry Clinic on the site of Northampton General Hospital, providing students with the real-world practical experience they need. Final year students may also have the opportunities to take part in events such as the London Marathon, providing podiatric care to participants.

🔔 Designated Programme for Hospital Authority’s Training Sponsorship Scheme: Since 2005, the Hospital Authority has been running the Training Sponsorship Scheme on and off, which provides full sponsorship for Hong Kong students to pursue overseas studies in allied health disciplines that are not offered locally. These include areas such as Podiatry and Orthoptics. Both the BSc (Hons) Podiatry programme in University of Northampton is the designated programmes of the sponsorship scheme.
