University of Greenwich

University of Greenwich was formed after a merger between Woolwich Polytechnic – itself the second oldest polytechnic in Britain – and a number of other polytechnics, and was subsequently granted full university status in 1992. With a history that can be traced back to 1891, Woolwich Polytechnic was where Sir Charles Kuen Kao, laureate of the Nobel Prize in Physics and former Vice-Chancellor of Chinese University of Hong Kong, began his studies of engineering. Today University of Greenwich continued to excel in Mechanical Engineering and Architecture, and has retained its commitment as a teaching institution.

University of Greenwich is one of the very few universities that offer both Architecture and Landscape Architecture, providing academic programmes in undergraduate and postgraduate level. It also offers a Postgraduate (Conversion) programme in Landscape Architecture, a two-year qualification that accepts application from graduates in other disciplines. The Department of Architecture & Landscape is based in the main campus of Greenwich in London and enjoys its own building designed by star architecture firm Heneghan Peng. Facilities include the UK’s largest landscape roofs dedicated to research and teaching!
