University of Essex

As one of the best in Social Sciences, University of Essex is ranked the 46^th in the UK. Researches in Politics, Economics, Psychology and Sociology are all highly rated by REF (2021). Respectively 98%, 97%, 89% and 88% of researches in these disciplines were rated World Leading and Internationally Excellent – a very impressive achievement for a university with only 50 years of history. Today University of Essex is also one of the 18 Q-Step Centres for Quantitative Social Science Education in the UK, in which students can learn quantitative research skills (such as running large-scale polls, the use of statistical software such as SPSS, AMOSS and more) through elective modules. A number of professors in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Hong Kong are graduates of University of Essex. Biomedical Sciences: Recognized Qualification for Biomedical Scientists / Medical Laboratory Technicians

In order to become a Biomedical Scientist in the UK ^{(known as Medical Laboratory Technician in Hong Kong)}, it’s required that students complete a Biomedical Science degree accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). With close links with Public Health England (PHE) and the NHS, the 4-year BSc (Hons) Applied Biomedical Science (NHS Placement) programmes in University of Essex allows students to spend a placement year in a NHS lab in their third year, enhancing their employability in the future with the NHS.
