University of East Anglia (UEA) Faculty of Science Seminar

Globally ranked the 174^th (THE) and the 17^th in the UK, University of East Anglia (UEA) is a world-renowned university in scientific researches and for many years has been the 1^st choice of students pursuing a degree in medicine and pharmacy. The University is also famous for its researches in history of art, communication and cultural studies as well as environmental sciences, and these were all highly rated in the latest RAE done by the UK Government. Among many others, 90% of researches in communication and cultural studies were rated “World Leading” and “Internationally Excellent”, which was the 2^nd best result in the UK. In environmental science, UEA has contributed more than any other university in the world to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and are among the leaders in the investigation of climate change.

Details of the Seminar

Dr Susan Matthews, Associate Dean for Admissions for the Faculty of Science and senior lecturer in pharmacy, will introduce the unique strength of and programmes in the Faculty of Science. She will also go into more details of the undergraduate programmes listed below, covering things like course structure, content, entry requirement and career prospect. The seminar is suitable for HKDSE graduates and F.4 students or above.

Speaker: Dr Susan Matthews

Dr Susan Matthews gained her BPharm from the University of Nottingham and qualified as a Pharmacist (RPSGB) a year after graduation. After gaining her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from University of Bath, she researched in many research institutes in the UK and Europe. In 2003 she joined University of East Anglia (UEA) as lecturer in pharmacy. With over 10 years of teaching experience, she understands the faculty and its programmes well and will be able to advise students and parents towards selecting the right programme.
