Ranked the 192nd globally (THE 2023) and the 19th in the UK, University of Aberdeen is an ancient Scottish university founded in 1495 and the United Kingdom’s fifth oldest University. The University is well-known for its pioneering researches in Medicine, where Insulin and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) were first discovered and invented by Aberdeen’s professors. Located in Europe’s oil capital, University of Aberdeen also leads the world in engineering technology in oil and gas. The university was also associated with five Nobel Prize winners (which include winners of Chemistry, Physics, Medicine and Peace Prize).
University of Aberdeen has launched a Medicine Foundation programmes from the 2019/20 academic year, providing the opportunities for students to progress to its five-year international medicine (MBChB) programmes. Students studying the MBChB programmes will spend the first three years studying in Aberdeen, and the fourth and fifth “Clinical Years” in private hospitals in Sri Lanka!
