TEDI London is a new engineering school jointly established by Arizona State University, King’s College London and UNSW Sydney, which has a long-term ambition to grow into an engineering school with 5000 students! With its own campus in Canada Water in South East London, TEDI London is awarded degree awarding power by the UK government when it opened with its first cohort of students in 2021/22!
Design Engineering: Forget Lectures, and Learn to Think like an Engineer!
TEDI London has focused solely on Design Engineering since its foundation and have only introduced its first new programmes in 2025/26. Design Engineering is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering that blends Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Product Design. Students on the programmes in TEDI London will attend no traditional lecture, but learn through design projects, where they’re required to apply engineering thinking and come up with innovative and workable solutions for real world problems.
- BEng/MEng (Hons) Global Design Engineering Accreditation: IED、IET
- BEng (Hons) Engineering with Artificial Intelligence New in 2025/26
In every project, they will be given different goals and specifications in their brief, and will work in workshops, masterclasses, group discussions and practical sessions in the makerspaces:
- Project: Brompton Bike Accessories
Module: User-Centred Product Design (Year 2)
Design an accessory for a Brompton bike that would help boost users’ confidence, focusing on one of the following key areas: safety features, ease of navigation, improving cyclist visibility, and bicycle transportation. During the end-of-module showcase day, pitch the idea to the ‘client’ Brompton! - Project: Printworks Building Design
Module: Ecological Design / Design for Smart Cities 2 (Year 2)
Develop a concept design that addresses the challenges of the Printworks renovation, drawing on the architectural planning documents and a Virtual Reality walkthrough of the building. The design also needs to consider the interests of multiple stakeholders and the overall lifecycle impacts of the building!
