Steyning Grammar School is a state boarding school (open to students with British Citizenship or BN(O) Visa only) located in the West Sussex town of Steyning. It’s near the coastal city of Worthing, and about an hour away from Portsmouth and Eastbourne. It’s the only state boarding school in the area, with over 2000 students and 124 boarding places for Year 9-13. Admissions are non-selective except for boarding students. The overall A*-B rates in GCE A-levels were at 67% and 44% in 2019 and 2023 respectively. Popular university destinations include Exeter, Leeds, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Sussex and the like. Normally every year a handful of top students would make it to Oxbridge and medical schools – and there were five of them in the class of 2023! Notable alumni include Greg Barker (life peer in the House of Lord) and Bernard Holden MBE (former president of the Bluebell Railway), etc.
