Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate: Admissions Seminar & Interview Day

In the Seminar, Head of College Mr Dan Machin will provide an overview of Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate for prospective students and parents, detailing its curriculum, internal tests, entry requirement, facilities and their expectation on students. Mr Dan Machin is also happy to meet with students and parents individually after the seminar to discuss their education needs and applications, as well as interviewing students who are ready to apply to Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate.

School Profile

Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate is one of UK’s best boarding schools by many accounts. Provisions on academic, facilities and extra-curricular activities are all of the highest standard. In the past few years, the School saw some very impressive improvement in academic result and has since broken into Britain’s Top 10. It’s one of the few large-scale boarding schools in the UK, with as many as 1600 students, and has become one of the popular options for students who aspire to study in top universities.

Top 10 in GCE A-levels

Over the past few years, the School saw some very impressive improvement in academic result and has become one of the Top 10 boarding schools in the UK. A*-B rate in GCE A-levels were over 90% for four consecutive years (2012-2015). In 2015, 81% of students achieved A*/A. And about 20% of graduates have gone onto the world’s top 20 universities, as defined by the QS World University Ranking.

1-Year A-levels

For HKDSE graduates looking for a second chance in public exams, the 1-Year A-levels programmes will allow them to obtain the qualifications of GCE A-levels in a year’s time. The worldwide recognition of GCE A-levels will enable them to apply to top universities in the UK, Hong Kong and many other countries in the world.

The Other Side of a Traditional Senior School:
Faculty of Queen Ethelburga’s

Starting from F.4 (Year 10), the Faculty of Queen Ethelburga’s runs alongside Queen Ethelburga’s College. While Queen Ethelburga’s College teaches traditional academic subjects, the Faculty of Queen Ethelburga’s provides extra options of subjects and courses to cope with the diverse education needs of its students. In addition to GCSE and GCE A-levels, students in the Faculty of Queen Ethelburga’s also enjoy the options of BTEC qualifications. These students excel in public exams with a A*-A rate of 81% in GCE A-levels 2015 – a result comparable to that of Queen Ethelburga’s College and better than many boarding schools.
