Professor Michael Alcorn, Dean of Graduate Studies of School of Arts, English and Languages, will spend the first 15 minutes of the talk to provide an overview of Queen’s University Belfast, covering areas such as their subject specialisms, content of teaching, career prospect and more!
Professor Michael Alcorn will then shift the focus on his expertise – Music, Sonic Arts and New Media Arts. He will share a bit about his researches and creative practices, as well as career prospects of their graduates. The admission talk is a great opportunity for students interested in music, sonic arts and new media arts, to learn about these disciplines.
Professor Michael Alcorn is a composer and also a researcher in music and sonic arts. After receiving his Phd from University of Durham, Professor Michael Alcorn joined Queen’s University Belfast as the composer-in-residence, where he would later successfully establish the music technology pathway and the Sonic Arts Research Centre. His music has been performed and broadcast in Europe, North and South America and the Far East. He has also received commissions from the BBC, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and many others. The below is one of Professor Michael Alcorn’s composition:
