Oakham School is a traditional boarding school with 475 years of history, located in rural area in the Midlands and just over 30 minute away from the midland city of Leicester. Over 1000 students study in Oakham School’s highly well-equipped campus and have always thrived in academic, sports and art education. First introduced the International Baccalaureate (IBDP) since 2001, students in Oakham School have the option of IBDP and GCE A-levels when they progress to sixth form. And following the successful implementation of the IBDP, in 2018/19 the International Baccalaureate Middle Year programmes (IBMYP) was introduced for Year 7-9, while retaining the GCSE curriculum for Year 10-11. In terms of public exam results, the A*-B rates in GCE A-levels were between 70% to 72% in the past two years (2024-2025) and the IBDP average scores were at 34.1 and 34.7. Every year about 200 students would graduate from Oakham School. In a typical year, about 60% of them would continue their education in Russell Group universities. There would also be a good number of students making it to specialist institutions of performing arts, music and visual arts.
