Located in central Norwich, East of England, Norwich University of the Arts was established in 1845 and is now one of UK’s seven specialist art universities. While traditionally known for Fine Art, the University is also running forward-looking digital media programmes on VFX, User Experience Design, as well as Games Design:
Employability is at the heart of teaching in Norwich University of the Arts, and it’s recognized by industry for providing exceptional training for work-ready graduates. Starting from Year 2 of an undergraduate degree, there are opportunities for work placement and for students to work on live briefs. They are also encouraged to submit their work to open competitions.
Norwich University of the Arts is a creative community of 2700 students lead by a teaching staff who are themselves practicing artists and designers. The majority of its students are British and only 10% come from overseas. Notable alumni include Stuart Craig (Production Designer on Harry Potter film series), Brian Bolland (Graphic Novel Artist on Batman comics) and Keith Chapman (Creator of Bob the Builder).
In addition to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, Norwich University of the Arts also provides foundation programmes in the form of a Year 0. Designed for students whose grades fall slightly short of the requirements of undergraduate year one, a Year 0 is an additional year attached to a standard 3-year undergraduate degree (students will be issued a visa that covers the whole 4-year period). Compared with a broad-learning art foundation, in the Year 0 students will focus on modules directly relevant to their art & design specialisms and be better prepared for their undergraduate degrees!
