King William’s College is a historical boarding school and is the only independent school in Isle of Man. In the 190 years since its foundation, King William’s College has educated many well-known figures in politics, business and the academia, including Sir James Lockhart (former Colonial Secretary of Hong Kong), Sir William Bragg (Nobel Laureate in Physics), John Taylor (Inventor & Chairman of Strix – a listed water filters manufacturer), etc. With a campus of 37 acres, KWC currently educates over 500 students. The majority of students come from families with professional background and around one-sixth have a parent who attend the School – a testimony to its outstanding quality of education!
King William’s College is an early adopter of the International Baccalaureate (IB). Since its introduction in 2002, close to 1000 students have graduated with the IB in King William’s College. There are always high achieving students who scored 40+ in IBDP. Taking the past three years (2021-2023) as examples, the average IB scores are between 31.9 to 34.1, while 23 students achieved 40+ (including a student from Hong Kong) with two students scoring the full mark of 45! Popular university destinations include Durham University, University of York, University of Bath, King’s College London, etc.
