Hartpury University & Hartpury College

Hartpury University & Hartpury College ^{(formerly known as Hartpury College)} is a specialist university for Animal Care, Equine Training & Management, as well as Sports and Agriculture. While Hartpury was granted full university status in 2018, it’s retaining the Hartpury College brand and its unique A-level and vocational (BTEC) courses. Its 360-hectare campus (18 times bigger than the Hong Kong Victoria Park) is home to a farm that feeds 250 cows, 80 calves and over 600 sheep where students have opportunities to be involved in the operation and management of an actual farm. There are also training and medical facilities for horses and students will have tons of opportunities to work with a variety of small animals.

In the area of horseracing, equine training and management, Hartpury University & Hartpury College has had collobrated with the Hong Kong Jockey Club on many different projects. Apart from being part of the racehorse welfare research project sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Dr Jane Williams (Head of Research in Hartpury University) was also appointed to the Veterinary Advisory Committee (VAC) at the Hong Kong Jockey Club in 2024. Graduates from Hartpury University & Hartpury College have had amazing careers in Hong Kong – they include Amanda Bond (Head of Equestrian Affairs at the Hong Kong Jockey Club), as well as Annie Ho Yuen Yan (equine athlete & racehorse jockey).

A-levels & Pre-Veterinary Enrichment Programme

If you want to become a vet or vet nurse, at Hartpury College you will be able to study your A-levels alongside a Pre-Veterinary Enrichment Programme that includes 130 hours of biological and pathological fundamentals and 50 hours of practical training. Such will fulfil the requirement on work experience when students apply for a veterinary medicine degree.
