Haberdashers’ Monmouth School

Haberdashers’ Monmouth School is a large-scale “all-through” boarding school in South Wales. In the past, the Schools have operated as a co-educational prep school and two separate boys’ and girls’ senior schools. Following the successful introduction of co-educational teaching in sixth form in 2018/19, Haberdashers’ Monmouth School will become fully co-educational from 2024/25. After the merger, Haberdashers’ Monmouth School will become a school with over 1000 students. Year 7-11 students will be based on the current Monmouth School for Boys site, while students in the prep department and sixth form will be based on the Monmouth Girls’ School site.

Monmouth School for Boys has always provided high standard training in a range of sports and is particularly strong in rowing, rugby and cricket. Notable alumni include a number of UK hockey and rugby players, as well as Tom Lucy, who won a silver medal for Great Britain in 2008 Olympic Games! Based the pioneering philosophy of modern dance artist and theorist Rudolf Laban, Monmouth School for Girls provides outstanding dance education, where students can attempt dance exams by Laban Guild and International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA). These graded dance qualifications include Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Theatre Craft, Ballroom, Latin – making it an excellent option for students who aspire to become professional dancers in the future! In terms of public exam results, the class of 2024 achieved an overall A*-B rate of 68% in GCE A-levels, with two Cambridge students and at least one Medicine student. Three Hong Kong graduates will be heading to King’s College London, University of Bristol and University College London (UCL)!
