Located in a small town in the north west of London, Berkhamsted School is a large scale independent school very popular among local British families. Its preparatory and senior school now educate over 1600 students, with just about 50 boarders from overseas. International students will therefore have lots of opportunities to interact with local students inside and outside of the classroom. Although co-educational in essence, classes in the senior school are divided into boys and girls classes until sixth form, providing the benefits of both single-sex and co-educational education. Berkhamsted School is reputable for its excellent track records in public exams. In the years before the pandemic (2015-2019), A*-B rates in GCE A-levels were at 70% to 80%. In 2023, about 74% of students achieved A*-B.
