Barnard Castle School is a historical all-through boarding school situated a small market town within the county of Durham, North-east of England. The School currently educates about 600 students, of which about 150 are sixth-formers (Year 12-13). It was the shooting site of BBC comedy show “The Fast Show”. Notable alumni include Giles Deacon (former Gucci Fashion Designer), Edward Mellanby (a pharmacologist who discovered vitamin D) and many international rugby players. In terms of university destinations, many graduates from Barnard Castle School would continue their studies in universities in the North of England, such as Northumbria University, Leeds Beckett University, Newcastle University and Durham University. Sport-related programmes are particularly popular and past progressions included University of Bath’s world-famous Sport Management & Coaching programmes!
