Aberystwyth University

Aberystwyth University is the oldest university in the Wales and a founding member of University of Wales. Aberystwyth University is strong for Animal Science, Geography, Computer Sciences as well as Politics – for which it was ranked top 20 in the UK by the latest research assessment exercise (REF 2021). Since its establishment in 1872, Aberystwyth University has educated a number of politicians and scholars in Wales. More well-known alumni to Hong Kong include movie director of Bridget Jones’s Diary. Prince Charles has also spent a term in Aberystwyth University to read Welsh and history while he was studying in University of Cambridge.

Animal Science & Veterinary Science: Joint Veterinary Scienc (BVSc) Programmes with Royal Veterinary College (RVC)

Aberystwyth University has long been recognised for its excellence in Animal Science and consistently ranked among the Top 10 in the UK for Animal Science (2015–2021, 2024–25). Building on that reputation, Aberystwyth University introduced a new Veterinary Science (BVSc) programme in the 2021/22 academic year, jointly delivered with the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), University of London. Students on the programme will spend the first two years at Aberystwyth University, where they will study the fundamentals of Veterinary and Animal Science. In Year 3 to Year 5, they will then continue their clinical training at the RVC’s Hawkshead Campus in London, gaining hands-on experience in a world-class veterinary teaching environment.
