• What’s Podiatry? What are the common conditions that can be cured by Podiatrists, in addition to Onychomycosis (fungal infected toenail), Tinea Pedis (Athlete’s Foot), pathological flat foot and other toe deformities?
• There are lots of other services provided by the Podiatry department in hospitals. Which of them are performed by Podiatrists?
• Professional Qualifications: How can you become a registered Podiatrist in the UK, so that you can be eligible to practise when you return to Hong Kong?

Professional Qualification

The profession of Podiatry is currently not subject to statutory regulation in Hong Kong. The profession is self-regulated through a voluntary and society-based registration system. If students plan to return to Hong Kong and practise as a Podiatrist, they must first become a registered Podiatrist in the UK. Students can also choose to register with the respective society in Hong Kong to obtain greater professional recognition.

The BSc (Hons) Podiatry in University of Huddersfield is approved by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and therefore qualifies graduates for registration with HCPC as a Podiatrist. As a registered podiatrist in the UK, students will be eligible to practise in Hong Kong.

University of Huddersfield

University of Huddersfield is one of the polytechnics that were granted university status after the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 and is now ranked the 65^th in the UK. With relatively lower entry requirement than the more traditional universities, the University also accepts sub-degree graduates of Hong Kong to final or second year of degree programmes.
