Seminar: How to Become a Lawyer in Hong Kong?

As there is more than one way to become a lawyer in Hong Kong, students and parents always find it difficult to digest the pathways to become a lawyer. While many students would choose to go for an undergraduate law degree (LLB) in the UK and come back for the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL), to get in the PCLL programme isn’t an easy task as competition for PCLL programmes in Hong Kong is fierce. So how about getting a master’s degree in laws (LLM)? Will that increase your chance?

If you’re a non-law degree holder, is it an achievable goal to make it to the PCLL after studying for a one-year Graduate Diploma in Laws (GDL)?

In addition to qualifications, 1-2 years of training (or pupillage) is also part of the requirement. How can you prepare for that when you’re in school? And how can your law degrees help with that?

Ms Dona Chung, the speaker of the seminar, also studied law in the UK and she is now working in the admission team of BPP University. She will introduce all the law-related programmes mentioned above – that’s LLB, PCLL, LLM and GDL – and discuss how these programmes can help students become a lawyer in Hong Kong. More than that, Dona will also share her experience as a law student in the UK and briefly show you what you will study in common modules of an undergraduate law degree (LLB).
