University Foundation Seminar: The Difference between 1-to-1 and 1-to-many Progression

On-Campus Foundation (which usually provides 1-to-1 progression options) and Off-Campus Foundation (which usually provides 1-to-many progression options) are the two major kinds of university foundation programmes you will find in the UK. Not only do they differ in the location of your classroom, they also reflect the choices of universities you have after graduation.

On-Campus Foundation programmes that come with “Guaranteed Progression” usually limit progression options to one university only. If you showed exceptional improvement in your foundation programme, or you wanted to change subjects after a year of studies, the benefits that come with “Guaranteed Progression” might become a limitation, hindering your choice of universities and subjects.

The foundation programme in CATS College is an Off-Campus one, which enables students to apply to top universities including LSE (ranked the 3^rd in the UK) and UCL (9^th). The class of 2013 has achieved some exceptional results, with 77% students from South-East Asia making it to top 30 universities such as St Andrews (4^th), Durham (6^th), Bath (7^th), Warwick (10^th), Lancaster (12^th), Sheffield (18^th) and King’s (27^th).
