Study a pathway programme provided by StudyGroup in collaboration with many top universities in the UK – If you didn’t make the grades for direct entry into Undergraduate Year One and Postgraduate programmes, these International Year One, University Foundation Courses and Pre Master’s will help you bridge that gap!

• Guaranteed Progression: The majority of these pathway programmes come with a “Guaranteed Progression”. This means that students will be guaranteed a place in their target programme as long as their meet the internal progression requirements – you won’t be competing for places with external applicants!
• Progression Options: Nowadays there are fewer subjects that don’t come with a pathway option than those that do! These highly diverse progression degrees include Business Studies, Computer Sciences, Physiotherapy, Optometry, Architecture, Urban Planning, Law, Psychology, Engineering, International Relations and many more, allowing students to study a subject they’re truly passionate about.
• Study Location: Most pathway programmes are taught at a dedicated teaching centre within university campus, where students have access to campus facilities and are free to join clubs and societies within the university. Some International Year One programmes even arrange students to study alongside undergraduate year one students in some modules!

Durham University^#3

A member of the Russell Group, Durham University is now ranked the 85^th globally (QS 2027) and the 7^th in the UK. In REF 2021, 90% of its research was assessed as being of “world-leading” or “internationally excellent”. The University teaches a wide range of academic disciplines, in which 31 disciplines are within top 10 in the UK. Like many traditional universities, Durham University is strongest in Law, the humanities (such as Music, English Language & Literature, etc) and sciences (such as Physics and Biological Sciences) while Accounting & Finance and Business Studies are ranked as the 10^th and the 12^th respectively. Durham University is also one of the ten most targeted UK universities by leading recruiters in 2024/25. Notable alumni included Steve Easterbrook (CEO of McDonald’s), Cecil Chao (Hong Kong Billionaire) and Richard Adams (Founder of fairtrade organization Thraidcraft).

University of Bath^#7

Ranked the 125^th globally (QS 2027), the University of Bath has earned excellent reputation in slightly over 50 years since it establishment. In the 27 different academic disciplines that the University teaches, 17 of them are ranked among top 10 in the UK. Architecture, Sports Science, Business Studies, Civil Engineering, Criminology and Psychology degrees are all among top 5 in the UK!

The BSc (Hons) Architecture is a 4-year programme with two half-year placements, which is especially beneficial to international students as their placement arrangement won’t be limited by visa issues, making the programme a very good choice for students who aim to gain professional experience in the UK!

In Social Science, the University of Bath runs a broad-learning BSc (Hons) Social Sciences alongside more traditional stand-alone degrees in Sociology, Criminology and Social Policy. BSc (Hons) Social Sciences allow students to mix and match over half of its teaching modules from a wide range of electives across different disciplines in social sciences. Students will therefore to be able to tailor a degree according to their academic interest, as they gain deeper knowledge in the discipline!

University of Sheffield^#13

Ranked the 82^nd globally (QS 2027) and the 13^th in the UK, the University of Sheffield excels in a wide range of academic disciplines. Architecture, Law, Communication & Media, Town Planning & Landscape Architecture,Materials Technology, General Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Electronic Engineering are all among top 10 in the UK. Sheffield’s reputable engineering school now educates more than 4000 students and is a leading institution in systems engineering and smart materials globally. In the latest research assessment exercise (REF 2021), 92% of researches by University of Sheffield were rated as “World Leading” and “Internationally Excellent”. New courses in recent years include Global Sustainable Development, Data Science, etc. Notable alumni include five Nobel laureates, as well as David Childs (former Managing Partner of Magic Circle law firm Clifford Chance), Sir Alistair MacDuff (retired judge of High Court of England & Wales) and four former Justice of Appeal including Sir Maurice Kay, Sir Paul Kennedy, Dame Julia Macur and Dame Anne Rafferty! University of Leeds^#26

University of Leeds is a Russell Group university ranked the 77^th globally (QS 2027). First made into top 10 in the UK in 2018, the University is known for its outstanding academic researches and teaching quality. Graduate surveys consistently put the University as one of the ten most sought-after universities by Britain’s top employers. Among many of its areas of strength, Accounting & Finance, Business Studies, Economics, Engineering, Sociology and Communication & Media are particularly outstanding. Star sociologist Zygmunt Bauman taught in the Department of Sociology before his retirement in 1990. It’s also where Leslie Cheung studied before he returned to Hong Kong for his career in the entertainment industry!

University of Surrey^#31

Ranked the 246^th globally (QS 2027) and the 31^st in the UK, University of Surrey is a leading educator in Hospitality & Tourism, Food Science, Nutrition & Dietetics, Animal Science, as well as Music and Drama. Following the new veterinary school opened in 2014/15, the University will introduce a new Graduate-Entry Medicine programme in 2024/25, where the majority of quotas will be reserved for international students. Ranked the 18^th in the world for Hospitality & Tourism (QS 2026), University of Surrey offers standalone degrees in Hospitality Management, Tourism Management and Events Management, as well as a MSc Air Transport Management in postgraduate level.

University of Sussex^#45

Ranked the 273^rd globally (QS 2027) and the 45^th in the UK, University of Sussex excels in social sciences and the humanities. It’s ranked number one in the world for International Development (QS 2017-26). Cultural Studies, Animal Science, History of Art, Anthropology, Education, Computer Science, Media & Communication and Sociology are all within top 30 in the UK. University of Sussex is special in terms of its diverse offerings of interdisciplinary programmes (such as Law & Politics, Psychology & Sociology), which is suitable for students with diverse interest. University of Sussex is home to one of Europe’s largest International Relation departments. Its International Relation department and Communication & Media department are one of the few that offer both University Foundation and International Year One, allowing international students to start with a relatively lower entry requirement.
