Study a pathway programme provided by Kaplan in collaboration with many top universities in the UK – If you didn’t make the grades for direct entry into Undergraduate Year One and Postgraduate programmes, these International Year One, University Foundation Courses and Pre Master’s will help you bridge that gap!

• Guaranteed Progression: The majority of these pathway programmes come with a “Guaranteed Progression”. This means that students will be guaranteed a place in their target programme as long as their meet the internal progression requirements – you won’t be competing for places with external applicants!
• Progression Options: Nowadays there are fewer subjects that don’t come with a pathway option than those that do! These highly diverse progression degrees include Business Studies, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Computer Sciences, Architecture, Law, Psychology, Engineering and many more, allowing students to study a subject they’re truly passionate about.
• Study Location: Most pathway programmes are taught at a dedicated teaching centre within university campus, where students have access to campus facilities and are free to join clubs and societies within the university. Some International Year One programmes even arrange students to study alongside undergraduate year one students in some modules!

University of Bristol (11)

Ranked the 51^st globally (QS 2025) and the 11^th in the UK, also a Russell Group university, University of Bristol is a top research-intensive university located in the creative city of Bristol. As part of what reflects the good reputation of the University among middle-class families, about 40% of students of University of Bristol came from an independent school background, which is the fourth highest ratio, only after University of Cambridge, Oxford and St Andrew’s. Notable alumni include singer-songwriter James Blunt, as well as Hong Kong alumni such as LegCo member Alvin Yeung Ngok-Kiu and news reporter Kenneth Ng King-Chun.

University of Bristol is ranked within top 10 in as many as 23 academic disciplines. Highly popular courses include Engineering, Law, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, as well as Computer Science, Psychology, Geography & International Development, Politics, Sociology and Social Policy.

University of York (17)

University of York enjoys worldwide recognition and is now ranked the 169^th globally (QS 2026) and the 17^th in the UK. With a strong focus on the humanities, social science and sciences, York is a research-intensive university and a member of the Russell Group, which symbolises the highest research and academic standard in the UK. Overall research quality was ranked within top 10 in the UK by the latest research assessment exercise (REF 2021). Its English, Law, Politics, Psychology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Criminology, Archaeology & Forensic Science are ranked among UK’s top 20. University of Birmingham (22)

University of Birmingham is a historical and research-intensive university, which is now ranked the 76^th globally (QS 2026) and the 22^nd in the UK. The University enjoys very good reputation in the academia globally and is a founding member of the Russell Group, which symbolizes the highest standard of research and teaching in the UK. The University of Birmingham is ranked within top 10 in the UK for 22 academic disciplines, including Hospitality & Tourism, Physiotherapy, Philosophy, Creative Writing, Sports Science, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and many more! Its alumni and staff include 11 Nobel laureates, as well as Geoffrey Ma, the Hong Kong Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal.

University of Nottingham (30)

Ranked the 97^th globally (QS 2026) and the 30^th in the UK, University of Nottingham is a Russell Group university that has enjoyed a global reputation as one of the QS World’s Top 100 universities for more than 10 years (2012-2021, 2024). This year, while just missing the cut, the University is still ranked within top 100 for Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Law, Psychology, Education and Mechanical Engineering (QS 2025). Within the UK, University of Nottingham has been for many years one of the top 3 universities most targeted by UK’s top employers, while it’s the top university for graduate careers for four consecutive years (2018/19-2021/22)! University of Nottingham teaches 51 academic disciplines, among which 24 are ranked among top 10 in the UK – including Architecture, Building & Surveying, Economics, Sports Science, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, American Studies and Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Nottingham Trent University (42)

Nottingham Trent University is a post-1992 university located in the vibrant Midlands city of Nottingham. Today the University is one of the UK’s largest and most popular institutions and is home to students and staff from over 160 countries. In the past few years, the University has very successfully improved graduate employability by emphasizing work experience opportunities and is now in the UK’s top ten for the number of students undertaking year-long work placements.

After originally being established as the Nottingham Government School of Design in 1843, Nottingham Trent University is famous for it’s Art & Design programmes and offers an extensive portfolio of courses in this field. In addition to popular Art & Design courses such as Architecture, Fashion Design, Illustration and Animation, you will also find specialist programmes normally only offered by in large-scale art schools. These include Costume Design & Construction, Design for Film & Television, Fashion Knitwear & Knitted Textiles, Furniture & Product Design and more.

University of Essex (46)

As one of the best in Social Sciences, University of Essex is ranked the 46^th in the UK. Researches in Politics, Economics, Psychology and Sociology are all highly rated by REF (2021). Respectively 98%, 97%, 89% and 88% of researches in these disciplines were rated World Leading and Internationally Excellent – a very impressive achievement for a university with only 50 years of history. Today University of Essex is also one of the 18 Q-Step Centres for Quantitative Social Science Education in the UK, in which students can learn quantitative research skills (such as running large-scale polls, the use of statistical software such as SPSS, AMOSS and more) through elective modules. A number of professors in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Hong Kong are graduates of University of Essex. Other notable alumni include LegCo members LEUNG Yiu-chung and British film director Mike Leigh.

University of the West of England, Bristol (68)

Set in the creative city of Bristol, University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) was formerly a polytechnic and was granted full university status in 1992. Employability remains at the heart of UWE Bristol’s education. The already tight relationships with employers continue to foster, which now include formal links with the BBC, Airbus, etc. UWE Bristol provides academic programmes in as many as 37 disciplines, among which Building & Surveying, Architecture, Town Planning and Art & Design are the strongest. Medical-related subjects like Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Optometry are all open to international students. UWE’s Bristol School of Animation enjoys a worldwide reputation.
