Pathway Programmes: Lancaster (12), Exeter (13), East Anglia (27), Newcastle (33), Manchester Metropolitan (60), etc

University Pathway Programmes (Foundation & International Year One) are one-year programmes that allow students to progress onto year 1 and year 2 of an undergraduate programme in the UK. Many of these programmes are taught in dedicated teaching centres within university campuses and provide “guaranteed progression” to an undergraduate degree upon achieving the required grades in internal exams and coursework assessment.

Lancaster University (12)

Lancaster University is now ranked the 122^nd in World University Ranking (THE 2023) and has been a popular option among Hong Kong students in the past few years. Lancaster is ranked top 15 in Communication & Media, Business Studies, Social Work, Linguistics, English, Creative Writing, Biological Science, Geography & Environmental Sciences and more. As it is located in the North West of England, Lancaster University provides a very different experience from other city-based universities. Students would find the University a good destination of living and study with Lancaster’s award-wining accommodation, which has been named the Best University Halls for many years!

University of Exeter (13)

Ranked the 137^th globally (THE 2023) and the 13^th in the UK, University of Exeter is top 10 in as many as 26 academic disciplines and reputable for Sports Science, Radiography, Communications & Media, Psychology, Geography and Business-related subjects. Exeter’s Business School and Law School have been popular among Hong Kong students. It’s ranked the 7^th for Accounting & Finance, the 8^th for Business Studies and the 10^th for Economics. The Law School offers a special 4-year LLB (Hons) Law, in which students will spend their third year in paid work placements in a law firm, to earn up to a year of Qualifying Work Experience (QWE)! Notable alumni include JK Rowling (author of Harry Potter), Thom Yorke (lead singer of Radiohead) and more!

University of Manchester (24)

The University of Manchester is the sixth best performing UK university in the QS World University Ranking, which ranked it as the 28^th best in the world (QS 2023). There are as many as 25 Nobel laureates among its alumni and professors. A recent survey also shows that University of Manchester graduates are most targeted by employers in the UK (2021/22). Students aiming to study at this prestigious university, but fall slightly short of its entry requirement for direct entry into a degree, now have the option of a designated University Foundation programme. The Foundation has considerably higher entry and progression requirements, but can lead to a wide range of academic disciplines including Psychology, Biological Science, Pharmacy, Engineering, as well as many Humanities and Social Sciences degrees.

University of East Anglia (27)

Ranked the 27^th in the UK, University of East Anglia (UEA) is a world-renowned university in scientific researches and for many years has been the first choice of students pursuing a degree in Medicine and Pharmacy. The University is also famous for its achievements in Art History, Communication & Media Studies, Geography & Environmental Sciences, as well as medical-related subjects such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. In Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia (UEA) has contributed more than any other universities in the world to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and are among the leaders in the investigation of Climate Change. University of East Anglia (UEA) is also ranked the 14^th and the 75^th in International Development and Environmental Sciences respectively (QS 2022).

Queen’s University Belfast (28)

A member university of the Russell Group, Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) is the top university in the Northern Ireland, which is currently ranked the 198^th globally (THE 2023) and the 28^th in the UK. Academic researches by the University were highly rated in the research assessment exercise (REF 2021). In terms of academic disciplines, it’s best known for Pharmacy, Accounting & Finance, Architecture, as well as its strong School of Engineering!

Newcastle University (33)

Ranked the 122^nd globally (QS 2023), the 33^rd in the UK and a member of the Russell Group, Newcastle University is ranked within top 20 for 19 academic disciplines. Its Fine Art programmes has been named the number one Art & Design programmes in UK for many years and the University is also known for Architecture, Town Planning & Landscape Architecture, Medicine, Biomedical Sciences and Computer Sciences.

Newcastle University is one of the few universities that provide both University Foundation and International Year One in Architecture, making it a popular choice among aspiring architects.

First established as a School of Medicine, the University had been part of Durham University before it became a university of its own. First taught in 1834, Newcastle’s Medicine prorgammes is one of the most highly regarded medical degrees in the UK; The Medicine programmes also accepts “transfer” application from students of School of Biomedical Sciences, who can apply to transfer to Medicine or Dentistry after their first year of study.

In Computer Science, Newcastle University has a strong focus on specialist areas such as Cloud Computing, Cyber Security and Bio-Computing. It’s a Centre of Excellence for Cyber Security – one of only 19 universities in Britain to obtain such status! In postgraduate level, there are 13 specialist master’s degrees and also a Postgraduate (Conversion) programmes which is open to graduates without a computing background.

University of Stirling (38)

Named the Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence in 2008, the University of Stirling excels in Sports Science, Education, and Communication & Media. Its sports facilities are often used by the UK and Scotland national teams for training (swimming, tennis, gold and football). Under the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF), degrees in University of Stirling allow more flexibility in electives and changing courses. Students can ‘mix & match’ modules from different disciplines to engineer a degree that fulfills their interest and ambitions. Two third of students are from Scotland while the rest come from England and around the world.

Manchester Metropolitan University (60)

Based in the vibrant and multicultural city of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University (Manchester Met) is home to one of the UK’s largest and oldest art schools. With over 180 years of history, Manchester School of Art is long-established and currently teaches around 3,700 students. Graduates are widely employed in the art and design circle in the UK, including Thomas Heatherwick the designer of the UK pavilion at the Shanghai Expo 2010, L. S. Lowry the legendary British painter, as well as graphic designer Peter Saville.

Manchester Met offers a diverse range of art, design and fashion courses that include Fine Art, Graphic Design, Performance, Fashion Design (menswear, womenswear and sportswear), Architecture, Product Design, Fashion Business, Design Innovation, Illustration, Textile and many more.

City, University of London (68)

Located in the heart of London with easy access to destinations such as the British Museum and London financial district, City, University of London is a powerhouse for Business Studies as well as Communication & Media. The University is ranked the 50^th in Communication & Media globally (QS 2021). The well-renowned Bayes Business School ^{(formerly known as Cass Business School)} is ranked 28^th in Europe (FT 2022) and many see it as a stepping stone to get into investment banks and large-scale financial institutions. Students benefit from the School’s extensive network of alumni that includes the CEO of Coca Cola Company. Students can connect with these alumni via a private online platform with as many as 2000 active users of alumni. After the Business School, the School of Health Sciences is the second largest faculty in City, University of London, with a diverse offering of health-related programmes including Nursing, Optometry, Radiography and Speech & Language Therapy.

INTO London World Education Centre

INTO London is a university pathways college in central London (Zone 1, near Liverpool Street Station) that specializes in University Foundation and International Year One, with a large university network of over 110 universities in the UK and Europe.

The INTO London International Foundation comes with a “Guaranteed Progression” mechanism with a few universities. Students would receive a conditional offer from universities such as University of Kent and University of Exeter before the start of their courses ^{(depending on subject choices)}, so that they can progress onto year one of the undergraduate programme of their choice after meeting the specified requirements. Alternatively, students can also apply to universities via UCAS to widen their choices. From 2022/23, INTO London is introducing two new pathways – Medicine & Dentistry and Physiotherapy & Health Professions – which can lead to the medical school of University of Bristol, Aston University Birmingham, Queen Mary University of London (Malta Campus), etc.
