Pathway Programmes: Dundee (33), Bangor (44), Kent (52), Bradford (108), etc

University Pathway Programmes (Foundation & International Year One) are one-year programmes that allow students to progress onto year 1 and year 2 of an undergraduate programme in the UK. Many of these programmes are taught in dedicated teaching centres within university campuses and provide “guaranteed progression” to an undergraduate degree upon achieving the required grades in internal exams and coursework assessment.

University of Dundee (33)

University of Dundee is ranked among the top 15 in many academic disciplines, including Art & Design, Biological Sciences, Dentistry, Medical-related Subjects, Medicine and many more! While undergraduate degrees are usually four years long under the Scottish education system, many programmes in University of Dundee allow advanced entry into Year 2, if students get good enough grades. In addition to that, University of Dundee also offers 3-year degrees for Art & Design, Law, Nursing, as well as a 5-year master’s in Architecture (ie. combining a 3-year undergraduate and a 2-year postgraduate degree in Architecture).

In Biomedical Science, University of Dundee runs an undergraduate degree in collaboration with National University of Singapore (NUS), in which students can spend up to 18 months studying in NUS – which is itself one of Asia’s finest universities!

Bangor University (44)

With its advantageous location in the coastal town of Bangor in North Wales and proximity to the Snowdonia National Park, students in Bangor University enjoy one of the lowest cost of living in the UK in a picturesque environment. Ranked the 44^th in the UK, Bangor University is strong in Radiography, Sport Science, Social Policy and Psychology. Benefiting from its coastal location and proximity to Snowdonia, Bangor University is home to one of Europe’s most established department of Oceanography and is able to offer a wide range of options in the areas of Zoology, Oceanography as well as Conservation! Notable alumni include Oscar-winning movie director Danny Boyle (works include Slumdog Millionaire) and Sir Robert Edwards, winner of Nobel prize in Physiology or Medicine .

University of Kent (52)

Ranked the 52^nd in the UK, University of Kent enjoys a 300-acre campus in the historic city of Canterbury in the south east of England, which is just an hour away from London on a train. One of the few collegiate universities in the UK, students in University of Kent are attached to one of its six colleges, enjoying a more vibrant social life. In terms of academic subjects, University of Kent is highly rated by the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021) for Architecture, Law, Philosophy, Drama & Performing Arts, Film Studies and a few more subjects. Apart from these, Biomedical Science, Computer Science, Teacher Training, Cultural Studies programmes are all strong areas. Recent developments include a new medical school in collaboration with Canterbury Christ Church University, which opened in 2020/21. As one of the few teacher training programmes at undergraduate level, the BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Secondary Education (QTS) in University of Kent allows students to graduate with qualified teacher status (QTS). Biomedical Science – with accreditation by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) – can lead to professional qualifications as a Biomedical Scientist ^{(known as Medical Laboratory Technician in Hong Kong)} in the UK and in Hong Kong.

University of Bradford (108)

Located in the North of England, University of Bradford is a member of NCUK, and is home to one of Britain’s largest faculty of health sciences, which is highly recognized for its excellence in teaching and research in the area! Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Optometry, Radiography, Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences are all open to international students. Physiotherapy and Radiography are consistently ranked within top 15 in the UK, while Pharmacy is delivered as a five-year MPharm programme, so that international pharmacy students won’t have to worry about visa issues for their Pre-Registration training.
