A graduate of BA (Hons) Fine Art & Critical Theory and MA Fine Art Photography, Lynda has worked in the BBC and the UK film and TV industry, and has extensive experience as a media writer, photographer, art director for film, among many other capacities. Within UAL, Lynda has worked as an artist and tutor at London College of Communication for 15 years, teaching on both foundation and degree courses. Since joining the International Academic team in 2015, she travels, interviews and advises international students for all UAL Colleges and subjects.

Have you ever wondered why some creators just seem to endlessly have new ideas? Are they born this way, or do they have the right tools and methods in idea development? Of course there is some truth in both!

In this portfolio seminar and workshop, Lynda Doyle, International Academic Coordinator from University of the Arts London (UAL), will start with some general guidelines on art & design portfolios for prospective students and parents, and then work with students on creative exercises that help them prepare for an authentic and outstanding portfolio.

• SEMINAR – The Basics of Art & Design Portfolio: What does the University expect to see from your sketchbook? How many pieces of work should you include? What kind of work can you include? What specific portfolio requirement there are for different art disciplines? Lynda will provide an overview of these with a 20-30 minute presentation.
• WORKSHOP – Methods in Idea Development: Focusing on the early and important stage in creative practice, Lynda will work with students on creative exercises that helps students discover fresh ideas and expand current ones, to help them enrich their creative practice.
