UK 1-Year A-levels Seminar ( + Admission Data Analysis of Non-Jupas Route)
If you’re a HKDSE graduate aiming to study competitive degrees such as Medicine, Law, Finance, but you’re also worried that you may not have performed as well as expected in HKDSE and you wanted a second chance, this 1-Year A-levels programme will be a very good option to consider.
When you complete your 1-Year A-levels programme, you will have the option to apply to universities in Hong Kong through the Non-Jupas route, in addition to applying to universities in the UK. The good recognition of A-levels qualifications can also enhance your chances of getting into competitive degrees such as Medicine, Law, Finance, etc.
In the seminar, Astrum Colleges will introduce their 1-Year A-levels programmes and provide an analysis of Admission Data of the Non-Jupas route:
- Introduction to 1-Year A-levels: Admission representative from Astrum Colleges will introduce their 1-Year A-levels, covering issues such as teaching quality, facilities, subject choices in GCE A-levels, entry requirement and university destination of past students. The Admission representative will also tell you about the extra support provided to students targeting competitive degrees, which include placement opportunities, interview preparation, etc.
- Admission Data Analysis of Non-Jupas Route (Hong Kong): Based on admission data of local universities of the past few years, you will be shown how big a chance you have in securing a place via the Non-Jupas route. It turns out that a huge difference exists in different academic disciplines!
- Success Stories: Astrum Colleges will share success stories of their past students, who have came back to study in universities in Hong Kong.

Independent Colleges with a Majority of British Students
These colleges are different from other private colleges in that they have a majority of British and EU students, which provides a nurturing English learning environment. The Colleges even run a ‘buddy’ system between British and International students, which helps create an inclusive and supportive study and social environment.
Exam Results & Destinations
The three colleges have consistently achieved very good public exam results and 2014/15 was no exception. London continues to be a popular destination for the 2015 class, with many continuing their education in prestigious London colleges such as King’s College, Imperial College, UCL and LSE.
Across the colleges, 70% of students were able to progress to a leading university#, with 30% of them gaining entry into Britain’s Top 10 universities. From University Foundation, 70% of students made it to Russell Group and Britain’s Top 20 universities; with an A*-B rate of 72%, which fulfill progression requirement of most undergraduate programmes. These destinations cover a wide spectrum of disciplines from law, medicine and other medical-related subjects to business and politics.
Medical Programme
The Programme is tailored for students aiming at med schools and other competitive degrees such as dentistry, pharmacy and vet medicine. It provides extra interview preparation, assistance in the preparation for UKCAT and BMAT, as well as an annual conference on medicine programmes attended by students and speakers from UK med schools. In 2014/15, a total of 33 students successfully gained entry into medicine and other medical-related programmes.
