【Exeter X HKO】University of Exeter’s “Global Conversation” Lecture Series: Can Big Data Save Lives? Protecting Hong Kong against Air Pollution and Extreme Weather
This April, University of Exeter will bring its “Global Conversation” lecture series to Hong Kong, with the topic “Can Big Data Save Lives? Protecting Hong Kong against Air Pollution and Extreme Weather”. Joining forces with the Hong Kong Observatory and a number of experts from Meteorology, Environmental Science, as well as the business sector, the event will explore the application of data sciences in Meteorology:
- Welcoming Speech: Guests will be welcomed by Professor Sir Steve Smith (Vice-Chancellor of University of Exeter) and Mr CM Shun (Director of the Hong Kong Observatory).
- Topic Seminars: Professor Gavin Shaddick (Chair of Data Science & Statistics, University of Exeter) and Professor Gabriel Lau (Professor in Geography, Chinese University of Hong Kong) will share their insights and latest researches related to the topic.
- Follow-up Discussion & Q&A Session:
This session will be chaired by Professor Christine Loh (Adjunct Professor, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology), also featuring Mr CM Shun (Director of the Hong Kong Observatory), and Ted Hodgkinson (Head of Corporate Risk and Broking, Hong Kong and Macau at Willis Towers Watson).
