In her presentation, Lynda will provide an overview of the Medicine Foundation in UCLan, covering areas such as course structure, entry requirements, internal exams & assessment, progression universities & degrees, progression requirements, facilities, as well as tuition and accommodation expenses:

  • Medicine (MBBS) in University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) – a Special Medicine Degree for International Students: First run in 2014/15, the Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in UCLan is open to international students, with a limited number of places for UK students. What’s special about its approach of teaching and clinical placements in this new medical school?
  • Applying to Medical Schools after the Foundation: As school leavers must apply to medical schools through UCAS, will the application procedures be any different for students doing a foundation? Can foundation students apply to other universities and subjects through UCAS? As the Foundation only lasts for about a year, are students required to complete their work and volunteering experience before school starts?
  • The “Guaranteed Interview” Mechanism: 90% of Students who achieved an Interview Progressed to MBBS at UCLan! Foundation students who achieved the pass marks required for progression will be guaranteed a MBBS interview at UCLan. What are the pass marks? Is there a quota for these interviews?
  • The MMI (Multi-Mini Interviews): What should students pay attention to when they prepare for this new interview format in medical schools?
  • Medical School Interview Training: What sort of interview training will be provided to foundation students?
