Office Relocation Notice: We’re Moving to Mongkok!
On 28/12 (Thursday) we’re moving to our new office on 15/F, Belgian Bank Building, 721-725 Nathan Road, Mongkok. Special arrangements will be in place during the initial transition period for our weekend seminars, consultation and exam invigilation services. Thank you for your understanding!
Three expansions and a few reconfigurations within, growing from one office unit to three, and a team of five to 25. It didn’t feel that long ago, but turns out we’ve already been working in our Prince Edward office for 15 years now!
In these 15 years, we’ve witnessed Hong Kong’s public exam system transition from the HKCEE and A-levels (HKALE) to the current HKDSE regime. At first, there were more uncertainties about the new public exam system and many universities have set much higher entry requirements than they do now, meaning that back in the day the majority of students had to access undergraduate programmes via a foundation course. But Hong Kong students have worked hard and with growing recognition many universities have gradually lowered their entry requirements, allowing much more HKDSE graduates directly into their undergraduate programmes.
In both societies, these 15 years saw a lot of changes too. Six British Prime Ministers and four Chief Executives in Hong Kong. There were constant changes to UK visa regulations, big reforms in GCSE & A-level, Brexit and intensifying social movements, followed by, more recently, the Covid pandemic and the end of the New Elizabethan era.
The introduction of the BN(O) visa scheme also means that, instead of independent boarding schools, Hong Kong students can now consider studying in a state or independent day school. With these many more choices, the way they pick a school is more similar to local British students too!
Changes in recent years seem to come with more fundamental impacts to everyday life and many of us are finding our way to cope. But at the end of the day, we still believe that education and knowledge will help us navigate these certainties ahead. And from us, we promise we will continue to always put students’ interest first, to always strive to provide the most reliable consultancy services to students and parents, who have trusted us enough with advices on life-changing decisions.
