
UAL English Plus Short Courses (2017)
The popular “English Plus” short courses, offered by the University of the Arts London (UAL), have returned with a new timetable for 2017! Since the courses are extremely popular, students who are interested should apply 2-4 months in advance to avoid appointment.
The University of the Arts London (UAL) “English Plus” programmes combine English and beginner’s art & design classes, allowing students without formal training in art & design to get a taste of these interesting crafts! The only major requirement is a pre-intermediate level of English. Courses are booked in 2- and 4-week blocks, with a selection of topics in general art & design, communication and fashion, which will be taught at the Chelsea College of Arts, London College of Communication and London College of Fashion respectively.

English Lessons at the Right Level for You
Designed for language learners from around the world, the language part of the English Plus programmes comes with lots of flexibility in terms of weekly teaching hours and course length. Students will be put into classes according to their level of English and have the option between General English – which is suitable for those aiming at improving their English as a whole – and Academic English – which is suitable for students planning to study in the UK in future.

Apart from the English Plus, University of Arts London (UAL) also offers a series of short-term art courses from introductory to advanced level, which is suitable for professionals, amateurs, and university and high school students.
Most of the courses are offered during summer, yet there are considerable choices in other time of the year (ie. in January and during Easter Holiday).
Magnum Documentary Photography
A three-week Documentary Photography course led by two photographers from Magnum Photos the international agency for photographers. Covering the practice and the history of documentary photography, classes will take place in London College of Communication and Magnum Photos’s office in London. Starts in August.
Dual City Summer Programmes
Dual City Summer is a wonderful combination of travel, learning and cultural experience offered by Central Saint Martins. Students will study in two global design cities, starting with Central Saint Martins in London and a partner college in Berlin, Copenhagen, Florence or New York. The course brings you the rare opptunities to roam the cities, check out the museums and galleries with like-minded classmates from around the globe. Courses range from 2-4 weeks long. Most start in July, with limited options in June.
Portfolio Courses
Central Saint Martins runs a series of portfolio preparation courses. Each of these focuses on a specific art & design area, such as Graphic Design, Fashion, 3D Design and Photography. There are also a number of advanced courses for graduates and professionals. Apart from portfolio development, tutors will also give expert advices on admission and job interviews. These are full-time courses that last for around 10 weeks, with start dates in September, January and April.
Design an Album Cover
Enjoy the opportunity to create a music album of your bespoke playlist and design an album cover in four days’ time, led by professional tutors from London College of Communication. You will learn the craft of cover image making, typography, trends of album artwork, contemporary designs and practices and more! The course is offered year-round and suitable for beginners who are interested in music and design.
