世界排名 168（QS 16/17），英國排名 22，屬英國最佳首十位的科目範疇多達 20 個之多。建築系排名第六位，亦是少數同時設有建築系大學預備班及大學文憑的大學，相當受學生歡迎。前身是著名大學 Durham University 的醫科學院，屬羅素大學聯盟（Russell Group）成員大學之一，曾獲《泰晤士報（Times）最佳年度大學獎》，教學成就備受肯定。
