Universities

UK University is famous for its high quality academic courses, a lot of students choose to study in the UK each year. UK has more than a hundred universities, student can enter through different pathways; in general, most entries are through the academic pathway, for example A Level, University Foundation Courses; students can also apply through the vocational pathway such as National Diploma, Higher National Diploma.

Normally University is three years based, some universities have 4 years courses with one year practical training included. For those course which need professional training, such as medical, pharmacy etc, requires a longer period of time to finish the course.

The following table indicates the school fees regarding the types of course:

Living fees vary between different cities, London tend to have a higher living standard and living cost, for each student normally spend £7500 each year; other places normally need £5500 per year, highly depends on students accommodation types and their own living habits.

Most Universities provide student accommodation; they can also choose home stay or rent house off campus. The following table shows some accommodation details:

  Halls of Residence
Normally has single or double bedroom, students need to share facilities e.g. bathroom, laundry, kitchen and common room etc with other students.

Rental Fee/Yr (£)  £2500 – £4,500
Remarks •Have to pay deposit
•Hall will close during holiday, students have to find other place to stay
•School requires students to live in hall for at least one term or one year
   Private Accommodation
Students can normally stay in hall for one or two years, therefore private accommodation is very popular, students can find related information through school’s housing department or through local newspaper. Accommodations include single or double bed room, kitchen, living room, shower room, garden etc.

Remarks •Living expenses, not including water, electric, gas, students need to pay for these fees on their own
•Normally do not have internet connection, need to setup and pay by themselves
