UK Geographical information
The formal name of UK is “The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” and English is the official language. UK locates at north west of Europe and composed of Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland. It is the 5th largest trading company with 5,976 citizens.

England

London, the capital of UK, locates in England covering about 129,720 square kilometers. With high population density, London has 5100 million people (nearly 85% of total population in UK). It has long history. Also, it is one of the most bustling financial cities in the world and famous for commercial and manufacturing industries.

Plymouth had been one of naval ports in UK. Being close to ocean, it becomes a tourist holiday resort now. Traveling form London to Plymouth by train, it takes about 3 hours only. Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove are coastal cities, also tourist hotpots, famous for beautiful view of fishing villages and traditional building. Canterbury is not only an old city with long history, but also a holy ground for England of Church.

Oxford is an university center with lots of famous universities, including the oldest university in the world, Oxford University. Cambridge is also a well known university city breeding quite a few celebrated scholars like Newton and Darwin. Being the second largest city in England, Birmingham is a modern multicultural city with distance of about 120 miles from London. Manchester is the third largest city in England, also an art, sport and entertaining center. As a city at the north and 200 miles far from London with 2000 years history, York has beautiful buildings of mid-centaury and refreshing views.

Scotland

The modern and well developed Scotland locates at the northern region of UK. It covers about 77,167 square kilometers with population of 5,128,000 and population density of 67 people per square kilometers. Her traditional and long history is so famous in worldwide.

Scotland not only provides enterprises a world standard business environment, also have the best quality live in the world. Glasgow (at the west of Scotland near Atlantic Ocean), the biggest city in Scotland having 611,000 people, is an industrial town, also an art and cultural center with many Victoria styled buildings and museums. Edinburgh (at the east of Scotland near the north sea), the second biggest cities with 451,000 people, is the location of Scotland autonomous government, also the political, economics and cultural center. The third biggest city in Scotland is Aberdeen, which is a transportation center with international airport, rail and national bus station having 219,000 citizens.

Scotland has lots of famous international institutions from Europe, North America, Australia, etc., providing programme related to Scotland.
Wales

Wales is at south west of UK. It is near the ocean with the eastern part next to England. It covers about 20,764 square kilometers with population of 290,000. 20% Welshmen speak in Walsh. In environment, culture and languages, Wales is totally different from England with its special tradition.

Since 1955, Cardiff becomes the capital city in Wales (the youngest capital in Europe). It is the biggest cities with around 30 million people in Wales nearby southern coast and it have beautiful coastal view and two national parks. Cardiff is the first top coal and mineral exporter. Same as other cities in UK, there is shopping streets in both central area and other regions in Cardiff, which could supply whatever necessary. It is not as busy as London and there are coffee shops, restaurants, bars and hotels everywhere for people to relax.

Another famous city in Wales is Aberystwyth nearby by Cardigan Bay in west Wales. It is a coastal town with attractive view and comfortable weather, also a busy harbour (for Welshmen getting pass to emigrate to the United States). It takes about 4 hours traveling form to Manchester by train. There are 17,000 people in urban areas with large shopping centers and recreation facilities enjoy high quality life and convenience. Besides Cardiff, Aberystwyth is another major cultural and educational town. After 19th Centenary, it becomes an vocation resort and agricultural center. In 1872, University of Wales was found. In 1945, Wales National Library was established.
Ireland and Northern Ireland

Ireland is a west European island country covering 84,421 square kilometers with more than 5,000 years history and 520 million population. The landscape in Ireland is mainly plains and hills with forests and lakes. The southern part of Ireland declares independence as called “Republic of Ireland” and the rest northern part is called “Northern Ireland”. The Ireland with lots of violet conflict we often heard from news should be Northern Ireland.

The official languages in Ireland are Irish and English. Since Ireland is governed by UK for 800 years, English has become a major language, thus, all official documents and transport instructions are written in both English and Ireland. However, besides some western regions and Ireland regions specially mapped out, Ireland is not common.

Dublin at the eastern coastal area in Ireland has over million population with various old and traditional building in streets. Other major cities include: Galway, Cork, Limerick, etc.

Northern Ireland has about 160 million people and covers about 13,000 square kilometers. The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast, which locates at the north east corner of Northern Ireland and has 50 million zeal and friendly citizens with rich and long history. Also, its major industries are ship and airplane constructions, telecommunication, technology and trading. In education aspect, it is recognized its quality study environment.
