University for the Creative Arts (UCA) has four main campuses located in cities in the south of England. With London within reach of a 30- to 60-minute train ride, students enjoy the great exposure to exhibitions and galleries in London, without the burden of London’s cost of living!
- UCA Canterbury – Just an easy one-hour train journey from London and home to three universities, the historic city of Canterbury is a superb destination for international students! Fine Art, Architecture, Interior Architecture are particularly notable courses in UCA Canterbury. Other visual art courses include Illustration & Animation, Graphic Design, Creative Computing and many more!
- UCA Epsom – Epsom is home to the unique UCA Business School for the Creative Industries, which as its name suggests offers a range of business courses tailormade for the creative industries, such as Advertising, Digital Marketing, Event & Promotion Management, Business Management and more. For creative courses, there are the options of Fashion Design, Fashion Promotion as well as Graphic Design. With access to creative workshops and studios, UCA Epsom is likely to be especially attractive for business-minded students with a strong passion for the creative industries, but might not want to pursue a career as a full-time artist or creator. You can perhaps be a marketer with strong creative skills instead!
- UCA Farnham – Located in the traditional craft town of Farnham, UCA Farnham is the largest campus in terms of student population and course portfolio! These include a range of craft-based courses such as Fine Art, Ceramics & Glass, Textile Design, Jewellery & Silversmithing and more. There are also a wide range of visual art courses like Film Production, Animation, Digital Media, Games Arts & Technology, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Architecture, as well as Music Composition & Technology and an Acting course designed for the screen. Such wide range of courses is also why UCA Farnham is where the International Art Foundation is based – to allow students to get a taste of the widest range of specialisms!
- UCA Rochester – Perched high on a hill and with a stunning view of river Medway, UCA Rochester is the fashion campus of UCA. Course options include Fashion Design, as well as specialist courses like Fashion Textiles which has a strong focus on modern techniques, and Fashion Atelier which requires exceptional tailoring skills. Apart from design courses, there is a full range of fashion-related courses such as Fashion Image & Styling, Fashion Photography and Make-up & Hair.
Granted full university status in 2008, University for the Creative Arts (UCA) was formed with a merger between a few historical art schools with over 160 years of teaching experience. Over the years UCA graduates have worked in different sectors of the creative industries and have achieved international acclaim. They include a number of Oscar-winning animators, film director Gareth Edwards (director of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Godzilla), illustrator Martin Handford (creator of Where’s Wally?), animation artist Mark Baker (creator of Peppa Pig), jewellery designer Stephen Webster, as well as fashion designer Karen Millen.
