University Pathway Programmes (Foundation & International Year One) are one-year programmes that allow students to progress onto year 1 and year 2 of an undergraduate programme in the UK. Many of these programmes are taught in dedicated teaching centres within university campuses and provide “guaranteed progression” to an undergraduate degree upon achieving the required grades in internal exams and coursework assessment.

Lancaster University (14)

Lancaster University is now ranked the 122nd in World University Ranking (QS 2024) and within top 15 in the UK for Communication & Media, Business Studies, Social Work, Linguistics, English, Creative Writing, Geography & Environmental Sciences and more. Its Biomedical Science programmes – with accreditation by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) – can lead to professional qualifications as a Biomedical Scientist (known as Medical Laboratory Technician in Hong Kong) in the UK and in Hong Kong.

In terms of student life, Lancaster University is one of the few collegiate universities in the UK, which means that students are attached to one of its nine colleges, enjoying a more vibrant social life. A 560-acre campus and its location in the North West of England also means that Lancaster University provides a very different experience from other city-based universities. The University of Manchester is the sixth best performing UK university in the QS World University Ranking, which ranked it as the 32nd best in the world (QS 2024). There are as many as 25 Nobel laureates among its alumni and professors. A recent survey also shows that University of Manchester graduates are most targeted by employers in the UK (2022/23). Students aiming to study at this prestigious university, but fall slightly short of its entry requirement for direct entry into a degree, now have the option of a designated University Foundation programme. Newcastle University (37)

Ranked the 110th globally (QS 2024), the 37th in the UK and a member of the Russell Group, Newcastle University is ranked within top 20 for 21 academic disciplines. Its Fine Art programmes has been named the number one Art & Design programmes in UK for many years and the University is also known for Architecture, Town Planning, Medicine, Biomedical Sciences and Computer Sciences.

Newcastle University is one of the few universities that provide both University Foundation and International Year One in Architecture, making it a popular choice among aspiring architects.

First established as a School of Medicine, the University had been part of Durham University before it became a university of its own. First taught in 1834, Newcastle’s Medicine prorgammes is one of the most highly regarded medical degrees in the UK; The Medicine programmes also accepts “transfer” application from students of School of Biomedical Sciences, who can apply to transfer to Medicine or Dentistry after their first year of study.

In Computer Science, Newcastle University has a strong focus on specialist areas such as Cloud Computing, Cyber Security and Bio-Computing. It’s a Centre of Excellence for Cyber Security – one of only 19 universities in Britain to obtain such status! INTO London World Education Centre

INTO London is a university pathways college in central London (Zone 1, near Liverpool Street Station) that specializes in University Foundation and International Year One, with a large university network of over 110 universities in the UK and Europe.

The INTO London International Foundation comes with a “Guaranteed Progression” mechanism with a few universities. Students would receive a conditional offer from universities such as University of Kent and University of Exeter before the start of their courses (depending on subject choices), so that they can progress onto year one of the undergraduate programme of their choice after meeting the specified requirements. Alternatively, students can also apply to universities via UCAS to widen their choices. From 2022/23, INTO London is introducing two new pathways – Medicine & Dentistry and Physiotherapy & Health Professions – which can lead to the medical school of University of Bristol, Aston University Birmingham, Queen Mary University of London (Malta Campus), etc.
