What’s the difference between Nutrition and Dietetics?
Nutrition and Dietetics are both subjects closely related to food, nutrition intakes and health. Who are we going to meet when we seek diet advices in a hospital? How do they work together with colleagues from other medical professions, when they deal with patients?
How to become a Dietitian in the UK and Hong Kong?
Students who would like to become a Dietician in the UK must complete a Dietetics qualification approved by Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). Once graduated, students will be able to register with HCPC, without having to pass additional qualifying examinations. In Hong Kong, the profession of Dietetics is currently not subject to statutory regulation, and is self-regulated through a voluntary and society-based registration system.
Students will be able to return to Hong Kong and practise as a Dietician, after they’ve become a registered Dietician in the UK. Students can also choose to register with the respective society in Hong Kong to obtain greater professional recognition.
