Psychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy & other Health Sciences Seminar (Oxford Brookes University) Interviews right after seminar!

Type: Seminar
Target: F.4 or above (Seminar)
Location: British United

In the Seminar, Dr Donald Ridley (Registered Practitioner Psychologist and Associate Dean of Faculty of Health & Life Sciences) from Oxford Brookes University will introduce their Psychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and other health sciences programmes, covering areas such as course structure & content, facilities, academic & interview requirement, mode of assessment, professional qualifications, graduate prospect and more!

  • How can one become a Psychologist? Currently there is no statutory registration of psychologists in Hong Kong and the profession is therefore largely self-regulated by the Hong Kong Psychological Society. In the UK, the profession of psychology is regulated by law under the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), who maintains a register of qualified psychologists. If students were to obtain professional recognition in the UK, how long must they spend in their education? How do psychology graduates from Hong Kong pursue their professional qualifications in the UK?
  • There are seven specialisms in Psychology – What are their expertise? What different job opportunities are there for Clinical Psychologists, Forensic Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, Health Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Occupational Psychologists, and Sport & Exercise Psychologists?
  • What’s Physiotherapy? What’s Occupational Therapy?
  • In what circumstances do Psychologists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists collaborate when they work with patients?
  • What attributes does the University look for in a student? Where should applicants pay extra attention when they prepare for their applications and interviews?
  • Course Introduction: The Associate Dean will briefly introduce the following programmes, covering areas such as course structure, professional qualifications, placement opportunities, etc.
    • BSc (Hons) Psychology
    • MSc Psychology 1-year programmes suitable for graduates with a degree from other disciplines
    • Psychology Qualifying Certificate 1-semester programmes suitable for graduates with a degree from other disciplines
